احتفلت اللجنة الدولية للصليب الأحمر (اللجنة الدولية) والهلال الأحمر الأردني والاتحاد الدولي لجمعيات الصليب الأحمر والهلال الأحمر (الاتحاد الدولي) -مكونات الحركة الدولية للصليب الأحمر والهلال الأحمر-، يوم الأحد باليوم العالمي للصليب الأحمر والهلال الأحمر والذي يصادف الثامن من أيار/ مايو من كل عام.
وفي معرض حديثها عن الاحتفال، قالت السيدة سارة أفريلود، رئيسة بعثة اللجنة الدولية للصليب الأحمر في الأردن: “في الوقت الذي نحتفل فيه باليوم العالمي للصليب الأحمر والهلال الأحمر، نستذكر أن اللجنة الدولية قد تأسست قبل 159 عامًا وقد قامت المكونات الأخرى للحركة بتوسيع عملياتها لتصل إلى العديد من دول العالم استجابةً لاحتياجات المتضررين من النزاع المسلح والعنف والكوارث الطبيعية، بما في ذلك أولئك الذين وجدوا أنفسهم في الأردن”.
وفي سياق مماثل، قال معالي الدكتور محمد الحديد، رئيس الهلال الأحمر الأردني: “إنها مناسبة تدعونا للتفكير ليس فقط في 75 عامًا من الخدمة الإنسانية المستمرة من قبل الهلال الأحمر الأردني ولكن أيضًا للانضمام إلى شركائنا في الاحتفال بقيمنا المشتركة لصالح من نخدمهم”.
يتم الاحتفال سنويًا وحول العالم بموضوعٍ معيّن في هذا اليوم، وهذا العام تم اختيار #كن_إنسانًا_لطيفًا ليكون موضوع العام، ووفقًا للدكتورة نهال حفني، رئيسة بعثة الاتحاد الدولي في الأردن، فإننا “محاطون دائمًا بأعمال اللطف، والتي -وبغض النظر عن حجمها- تحدث فرقًا كبيرًا في حياة الناس ويمكن أن تؤتي ثمارًا تؤثر في مجتمعات وبلدان بل والعالم بأسره”.
وفي ظل الاحتفال باليوم، تم بث مسابقة حول المبادئ الأساسية لحركة الصليب الأحمر والهلال الأحمر لمدة أسبوع على إذاعة مزاج إف إم بالتعاون مع برنامج مع الحدث بمشاركة الجمهور.
وللفت الانتباه إلى القضايا ذات الاهتمام الإنساني والتي قد يتأثر بها الملايين من الناس حول العالم في يومنا هذا، تم إضاءة كل من قلعة عمان وقلعة الكرك باللون الأحمر – وهو لون شعارات مكونات الحركة –يوم الأحد. كما أقامت الحركة حفل استقبال يضم عروضًا مختلفة لفرقة ثقافية أردنية وسيتم تكريم بعض متطوعي الهلال الأحمر الأردني الذين عملوا على خدمة المجتمع. وخلال الحفل، تم إطلاق المسابقة الإنسانية لعام 2022 والموجهة للصحفيين الأردنيين للتنافس في بندَي أفضل قصة في موضوع إنساني وأفضل صورة في موضوع إنساني.
تعمل اللجنة الدولية والهلال الأحمر الأردني والاتحاد الدولي معًا في الأردن بهدف تقديم مختلف الخدمات الإنسانية، بما في ذلك للاجئين السوريين والمجتمع الأردني المضيف لهم من خلال حماية الروابط العائلية، وتعزيز إمدادات المياه، وتقديم المساعدة النقدية لأسر اللاجئين لإدارة الأعمال الصغيرة، وتعزيز نشر القانون الدولي الإنساني، والتعاون مع مختلف الكيانات الحكومية الأردنية في تعزيز الاستجابة لحالات الطوارئ.
Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement celebrates Day in Jordan
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Jordan Red Crescent Society (JRCS) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC)—all components of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, celebrated the World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day in Jordan which is marked on the 8th of May every year.
Speaking on the celebration, Mrs. Sarah Avrillaud, Head of the ICRC Delegation in Jordan says: “As we celebrate the World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day, it is pertinent to observe that since its founding 159 years ago, the ICRC and indeed the other components of the Movement have expanded their operations to reach many countries of the world in response to the needs of those affected by armed conflict, violence and natural disasters, including those who found themselves in Jordan.”
Commenting in similar vein, HE Dr. Mohamed Al-Hadid, President of the JRCS, said: “It is an occasion to reflect on not just the 75 years of unbroken humanitarian service by the JRCS in Jordan but also to join with our partners and friends to celebrate our shared values for the benefit of those we serve.”
The theme chosen worldwide to mark the day this year is #BeHumanKIND and in the words of Dr. Nehal Hefny, Head of the IFRC in Jordan, “it recognises that we are all the time surrounded by acts of kindness, which, no matter how big or small, make a big difference in people’s lives and can ignite a ripple effect to spread across communities, countries and the entire world.”
To herald the day, a competition on the fundamental principles of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement was broadcast for a week on Mazaj FM 95.3 on the programme M3 Al Hadath with the participation of the general public. The Citadel in Amman and the Castle in Karak, which are some of the most iconic monuments in the world, will be lit in red—the colour of the emblems of the Movement Partners—to draw attention to issues of adverse humanitarian concern still afflicting millions of people around the world today. There will also be a reception for the humanitarian and diplomatic community, featuring performances by a Jordanian cultural troupe and during which deserving individuals who served humanity with their skills and energy will be honoured by the JRCS. The 2022 Humanitarian Awards for the best story on a humanitarian subject and the best photograph on a humanitarian subject by Jordanian journalists will also be formally launched at the ceremony.
The ICRC, JRCS and IFRC work together in Jordan in the provision of various humanitarian services, including for Syrian refugees and their Jordanian host community by protecting family links, enhancing water supply, providing cash assistance for refugee families to run small businesses, promoting International Humanitarian Law (IHL), and collaborating with various Government of Jordan entities in strengthening response to emergencies.
